I write to you in a multiple capacity as an anti-racist since 1936 but mainly as Spokesperson for Friends of Bilston Community College and chair of the Statistical Unit at the recently closed Wolverhampton Race Equality Council.
Because the CRE has moved I must summarise previous attempts to contact you. For at least two years we have been in touch with your predecessors claiming that Bilston Community College (BCC) was wrongly closed and therefore the present Wolverhampton City College improperly opened. By and large they agreed with us.
When you took over as Chair and closed BCC we were alarmed that you would bring Blairite attitudes from London which Wolverhampton would resist and from recent dealings with the monstrous (and growing) quango the Learning & Skills Council and its satellite organisations we concluded all organisation set up to create a multicultural Britain had been hijacked by Blairites and that is the point made in the first document .
Coincidentally with the multiracial struggle came the war with Iraq which most people in Wolverhampton opposed and which FRIENDS and most ethnic minority people agreed was not only illegal but also racist, but it will readily be understood that if those who oppose the war receive anything like the savage treatment meted out to the BBC few ethnic minority people will be able to openly voice their real opinions because their jobs will be at stake. Hence the continuing need for Spokespersons who are independent and not subject to such blackmail. In this case the document takes the form of a dialogue with David Aaronovitch because of the personal relationships of George Barnsby with Aaronovitch, his family and the London School of Economics.
And so we come to current business. We are pleased that you have reacted so positively to the CRE study carried out on central government. What we want to ask is whether you could let us know the ethnic breakdown of all the staff of the Department of Education & Skills together with the ethnic breakdown of staff at all the organisations that they control including the monstrous quango Learning & Skills Council and the satellite organisations controlled by them.
We wish you well in your job of helping to create a multicultural society. If you behave honourably like Greg Dyke (also a New Labour supporter) you will also be set on by a bulldog every bit as ferocious as Alistair Campbell (probably Charles Clarke) if you dare support the view that the war against Iraq was illegal and racist and therefore Blair, like his pal, Bush are war criminals who ought to be prosecuted as such.
There is much more to come from Wolverhampton and we shall keep in regular touch.
